So, this means that Michigan became the 6th state after, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Nevada and West Virginia to decriminalized online poker wagers. Now, this is, of course, massive news for poker room operators like PartyPoker, 888 and PokerStars. After all, these casinos and poker rooms have long waited for their moment to shine again. And Michigan could be key to their success.

888 Online Poker Is Now Legal in Michigan - Does it affect New Jersey?

What will online poker look like with Michigan at the table?

Undeniably, 888 will expand its reach in Michigan first. After all, they already have a footprint in NJ, Delaware, and Nevada. So adding another state in the mix, after obtaining a license, of course, should only be a question of “flipping a switch” for them. And so this means that 888Poker would have the biggest player pool.

With that said, we can’t count PokerStars out of the race either. Indeed, the brand is already licensed in Pennsylvania and NJ. So Michigan might present the perfect “natural evolution” for the company.

But the decriminalization of online poker in Michigan may see an underdog, PartyPoker stakes its claim on The Wolverine State with its soon to go live US network. But with that said, adding Michigan to the table won’t affect the player pool just yet. Michigan won’t issue licenses for another 9 months. So we’ll have to wait and see the outcome.
