Hard Rock AC will host the MMA Pro League’s Opening Night. Atlantic City is in for a summer full of fun and fights! Hard Rock Casino set July 20 as the date for its first MMA event. Surely, there is a reason the night draws massive excitement from the fan base. It will be the debut of the new MMA Pro League. What’s more, Hard Rock confirmed it will host no less than five events of the new competition this year.
MMA, Boxing, and other combat sports!
Indeed, Hard Rock AC will also feature some fine boxing. More specifically, Light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev will defend his title against Eleider Alvarez. The event under the realms of the World Boxing Association will take the stage on August 4th.
On the same note, Ocean Resort Atlantic City will stage two fight nights this summer. With The Professional Fight League, known before as the World Series of Fighting, it will put up shows on August 16th and 30th, respectively.
Hard Rock AC expressed excitement over the choice of the venue for the inaugural show. “It was the chance to work with two respected veterans, that convinced us,” said Bernie Dillon.
In a word, Dillon referred to Dan Miller, former UFC fighter and Daniel Gracie, an ex-champion in Brazilian jiu-jitsu in his above statement. In fact, they will be the coaches of NJ and Pennsylvania teams. The new competition will feature teams from different regions. Promoter Hani Darwish and former HBO exec Mark Taffet are behind the new project.
They believe the fans will connect with the new competition immediately. In essence, the new format focuses on teams. Just as, it wants to focus on building geographical fan bases. However, this summer’s five shows with the two teams held in Atlantic City are just a table-setter. From spring 2019, the MMA Pro league wants to feature eight teams from across the US. They will compete in a regular season, playoffs, and the championship final.
