On Sunday, April 7th, 2019, former Ocean Resort Casino (ORC) owner Bruce Deifik, 64, lost his life in a fatal car accident after enjoying a Rockies home game. With that said, we’d like to send our comfort to the Deifik family, including all the ORC employees who knew him personally. He often used to visit the main casino floor and mingle with players and workers. After learning the news, the resort lowered the flag outside the property to half-mast in his honour.
In January 2018, Bruce Deifik paid $229 Million for ORC to former Revel Casino Hotel boss, Glenn Straub. At that point, Deifik went straight to work to reopen the NJ casino resort property as soon as possible. According to Diane Spiers, an ORC spokeswoman. The Ocean family is grateful to Bruce for his vision to reopen this amazing oceanfront property. ORC now employs over 3,000 members of our community. Unfortunately, the property didn’t produce enough profit to keep investors happy. As a result, Deifik took a loss and sold his portion of the company. A trustee is currently overseeing operations until the ownership transfer is final. Which, is expected to happen within the next month. Until then, everything will remain the same at ORC.
A day after hearing the sad news of Deifik’s passing, Ocean Resort Casino continued running as it does. Players were pulling at casino slots and having a great time. Not to mention, thousands of people still have a job to go to thanks to Deifik’s bold investment into the property. So despite the sad reality, the truth is, Deifik’s vision lives on at ORC. Sadly, he’ll never witness it blossom, but as the property turns the page, there remains a bright future ahead. And all of this because a man believed in a dream and had a vision.
