Betting on sports up to a slow start in North New Jersey. As you know, last May New Jersey won the NCAA court case. This cleared the way for legal sports betting. But so far only Borgata and Monmouth Park offer customers to place sports bet legally. And great news, as of 15th of July Meadowlands Racetrack is joining the pack, and they’ll also offer sportsbook wagers to their customers. But due to the proximity to New York, they ran into some issues on the way. And certainly, the legal difficulties they’ve experience played into the decision to hold off from launching their sports betting.
Additionally, Caesars Entertainment, Ocean Resorts, and Hard Rock are expecting to join the race, but they have not given a launch date yet. But there are rumors, and we expect them to be fully operational in time for the kick off of the NFL season coming this fall.
The market treads carefully
Although the temporary legislations are in place. It seems that all actors are aware that new legislation can have unexpected difficulties. A fact clearly is shown by not launching online betting at once.
Even Meadowlands manager is advocating to take it slowly, which explains the slower rollout of their sportsbook on their floor and online. At the moment there are only two licenses on sports betting active. Which also points to a cautious market. But have no fear, the launches will be sprinkled over New Jersey during the summer.
We have an interesting summer ahead of us, and we will see the sports betting landscape take form in the coming months. This will ensure that we can look forward to an interesting fall when Hockey starts. Not to mention that it’ll bring legal excitement to your Sunday football too.
Whatever the sport you love, know that by then we’re expecting many racetracks and casinos to offer a bet on! So, ladies and gentlemen, place your bets, the race is on!
