BetMGM has signaled a move to increasing its content and social media presence by hiring ESPN’s SVP of Digital and Social Content, Ryan Spoon. As a result of this new hire, Spoon will leave his ESPN role to become the COO at BetMGM. Joining the New Jersey Sports Gambling Company is an exciting and big move for Spoon. Indeed, in this new role, he will be responsible for increasing BetMGM’s overall footprint. A digital wonder

Spoon is, undoubtedly, great for the betting company. He twice won the award for Sports Business Journal Forty Under 40. Moreover, he was a key factor in building up many of ESPN’s biggest and best online ventures. Before his role at ESPN, Spoon worked as a Digital Space Trend Spotter for Polaris Venture. So, he’s undeniably a great asset for BetMGM, and perhaps Borgata Casino, who could benefit from his wealth of experience in the digital sector too.

Growing an online presence

All and all, along with his team, Spoon moved ESPN up from being a cable giant to being one of the biggest names online. He did this by using several social media platforms such as YouTube, Twitter, Snapchat, and Facebook. But now, BetMGM management is hoping he can replicate this success with them and boost their online casino profile. BetMGM’s CEO, Adam Greenblatt, said Ryan’s expertise would help them engage the digital experience “in entirely new ways.”

BetMGM is a big name that is just getting bigger. It’s currently one of the only sites that offer sports betting, online casino, and poker under one single login. At the beginning of the year, they made big improvements to their app. Also, they added even more betting options, such as in-game prop bets. However, now they’re looking to increase their content creation and improve their presence on Social Media.
