So much happening at Bally nowadays – here’s a recap

Bally completes Gamesys takeover. It was all smiling at Bally’s last Sunday. Indeed, M. Monty, G. Ng, N. Polcino, F. Policastro, C. Grasso, and P. Juliano officially opened the new High Limits Room. And so, the senior management of Bally Atlantic City celebrated the end of phase 1 in the $100 million refurbishments announced earlier this summer.

The second phase of Bally’s makeover should be done towards the end of November. This means that just on time for Thanksgiving, guests will have the chance to enjoy new rooms, suites, and penthouses. Not to forget, the hotel’s brand new lobby should also be ready by the end of November.

Sure Bally’s renovation is the talk of the town nowadays. Yet, there is so much happening behind the scene. So, we thought we’d recap the ins and outs of Bally’s transactions, especially with Gamesys.

Bally completes Gamesys takeover

On October 4th, Bally announced the shareholders had given them the go-ahead on the Gamesys buyout. The securing of the tech company was authorized for the sum of $4.065 billion. And out of this, $350 million was forked out in stocks.

Thanks to this acquisition, Bally is now in a solid position to become one of the leading omni-channel gambling companies in the USA.

What’s more, in the merger, Bally will also welcome 1,800 staff to its vast family.

For the new CEO of Bally, Lee Fenton, the merger represents an immense opportunity to transform the business into more than a” regional casino operator,” as he pointed out. Thanks to this deal, Gamesys and Bally can grow “as a digital-first leader.”

Once the companies fully merge. They’ll become a true powerhouse in the land-based and online casino sector. The pairs’ assets include online gambling, bingo, sports betting, poker, and much more.

A solid team that’s ready to dominate in more than one sector of gambling

It’s evident that as the USA online gambling industry grows, Bally has to take action to position itself for the future. This meant either investing in tech development. Or to team up with a company that already has a proven track record in the online gambling sector.

Now because development resources are scarce in the online industry, it seems that one of Bally’s only options (as we see it) was to buy a tech-driven company with more experience in the online sector to grow quickly. And, of course, to further capitalize on the opportunities in America.

Besides its robust tech that has propelled more than one online casino like Virgin, Jackpot joy, and Vera & John in the UK. The company comes with valuable insights into online gamblers’ behaviors. Gamesys’ business has long been to operate online casinos and online bingo sites. And even to create exclusive slots and other games for their sites.

Bally completes Gamesys takeover – Speculating on what the future holds for the pair…

So, as the company contemplates what they can achieve together, developing a bespoke gaming studio is at the top of their list, one might think. Because as you know, Bally already distributes its titles via the Scientific Games’ OGS platform. But now that Gamesys is onboard, it should give them more control over the distribution of their online collection. Yet neither Bally nor Gamesys have confirmed this.

But, Bally might also opt to sell out Gamesys’ UK online casino brands. This is something that we saw happening in the past when Caesars bought William Hill. If you remember, Caesars bought William Hill to focus on USA expansion. Then Caesars was quick to accept 888’s offers for William Hill UK online casinos and land-based shops to secure its position in Europe. So will history repeat itself? That only time will tell.
